sticky song of the moment:

Animals

TTNG ‧ 2009

favorite track: Baboon

I love the acoustic version of this album, too! I just have a sliiight preference for this one. I flip back and forth between them depending on my mood. They’re both brilliant.

100 Cowboys

Carter Vail ‧ 2024

favorite track: Arizona

Carter Vail is the only concert I ever went to with my dad! So this album has a special place in my heart. I once looped Arizona for several days. Yeehaw.

The Black Parade

My Chemical Romance ‧ 2006

favorite track: Dead!

Now what the actual hell am I meant to say about the Black Parade. Have you been keeping up with their tour? They're doing live theater.

Departure Songs

We Lost The Sea ‧ 2015

favorite track: The Last Dive of David Shaw

This album is a really heavy listen. It's a concept album — each song is about a different real-world story of death and loss. I highly recommend reading this article.

Finally We Are No One

múm ‧ 2002

favorite track: Faraway Swimming Pool

I found this album via a Google Music radio station when I was like 14! Faraway Swimming Pool came on and I remember stopping reading and just sitting in the dark to listen.

Hesitant Alien

Gerard Way ‧ 2014

favorite track: Millions

I’m allowed to have as many Gerard Way albums here as I want. Hesitant Alien feels like living in a small town that’s eating you.

Illinois

Sufjan Stevens ‧ 2005

favorite track: Come On! Feel the Illinoise! Part I: The World's Columbian Exposition / Part II: Carl Sandburg Visits Me in a Dream

The better the song is, the longer the title will be. So you can imagine the level of quality we're dealing with, here.

Morbid Stuff

PUP ‧ 2019

favorite track: Scorpion Hill

PUP is one of my favorite bands ever. Maybe my favorite band, but that's hard. MCR is doing their sex hospital execution tour as we speak. But PUP is the kind of band I can listen to all the time, no matter what. Sad? Cheers me up. Happy? Now I'm happier! Morbid Stuff was the first of their albums that I listened to in full. I found it while I was working on my thesis in 2024, and looped it 'till I had it memorized. It's the kind of loud, fun melodrama that I feel in my bones. It was really difficult to pick a favorite track. Scorpion Hill and City make me wanna throw up (I always mean that as a good thing.)

My Little Ghost

kidkanevil ‧ 2014

favorite track: Inakunaru

I found this album through a remix of Inakunaru on YouTube like a billion years ago!

おくりもの (Okurimono)

百景 (Hyakkei) ‧ 2009

favorite track: ほんをよむ (Reading)

This album feels like summer to me. It’s got this feel to it that’s sort of sweet and sad — like yearning? For what, I dunno. I think that’s something I look for a lot in music I like.

Pretty. Odd.

Panic! At The Disco ‧ 2008

favorite track: She Had the World

This is my favorite Panic! album! I found it when I was in a pretty rough depressive episode between I thiiink 9th and 10th grade. Summer always bums me out. So to me this album tastes like summer. It got me through it!

recently

Liana Flores ‧ 2019

favorite track: recently,

This is like a collection of lullabies for my soul.

Sweet FA

Peach Pit ‧ 2017

favorite track: Seventeen

The music video for Seventeen makes me really happy. I found it before I turned seventeen and I remember thinking “I wonder if this song will be right. Like, is this what being seventeen feels like?” It was!

Tales of the Night Forest

Black Hill & Silent Island ‧ 2018

favorite track: A wild river to take you home

I always listen to this album in order. It really does feel like going on a walk through some dark spooky woods.

Tourist History

Two Door Cinema Club ‧ 2010

favorite track: Undercover Martyn

Another album I have a really hard time picking a favorite track from. I tend to fixate on one track or another at any given time.

Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?

The Unicorns ‧ 2003

favorite track: I Don't Wanna Die

Waiter! Oh waiter! More static and screeching, please!
